Flamingos are Gathering

I look around me and they seem to be everywhere. Flying above my sink, posing on the mantle, lying on the kitchen counter, setting on the table, and lounging in my arm chair. Flamingos. I welcome their presence as well as the image they represent. It has been over sixty years since I first saw a picture of those long-legged pink birds. At age ten I found them at Disneyland. Their significance began to gel when I discovered them in Africa at age twenty. The pink flamingos presented themselves to me again when I reached my mid-forties. Only until I wrote my memoir did I truly understand what those magical birds were trying to tell me.

Some people give lucky pennies a special significance when found on the sidewalk. For me, I find pink flamingos.

More to come in my next blog….
